For my sixth custom vinyl toy, I decided to take on a project that wouldn't involve any painting... and instead chose to use a medium I've never used before - gold leaf.  After spending weeks deciding on the concept design, I settled on an Egyptian theme, and from there made the decision to build the toy around Anubis - the god of mummification and afterlife.

The sculpt took white some time, and involved about 5 separate bakes to get all of the parts hardened and sanded.  There was a lot of sanding and refining along the way before the toy was ready to be guilded.

Next process involved applying a thin layer of adhesive, waiting for it to becoming tacky, and then laying on the gold leaf in sections.  This process was extremely arduous, way more fiddly than I had imagined - largely due to all of the fine details and nooks ont the toy.

The toy will be appearing at Terrarium Gallery in Wollongong for a custom Munny exhibition they'll be showing from mid-July.  Accompanying the toy is an illustration (also using gold leaf) which will be on sale along with the toy at the exhibition.
